From 30th Street to the 14th State

Welcome to 30th Street Communications! As I launch this site for my new communications and social media consulting business, I want to take a moment to zoom out and reintroduce myself. My name is Maggie Richardson and I’m a DC native (30th Street, to be exact), adopted Vermonter, and writer at heart.

I started 30th Street Communications out of a desire to provide high-quality, affordable communications services to organizations and businesses in Vermont and beyond. Since graduating the University of Vermont in 2018, I’ve been working in the communications field trying out many different roles. I started out working in craft beer marketing and social media management at the Vermont Brewers Association and Boston Beer Company’s craft beer brand incubator, Alchemy & Science. Afterwards I moved into the nonprofit space, working for Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and later Phoenix Bikes.

During the COVID-19 pandemic I, like many, began to question almost every aspect of my life including my career. Since I was privileged enough to be able to work from home throughout the pubic health crisis, the flexibility sparked my creativity and ambition to create a business on my own.

Over the past year, I’ve been working as the Communications Director for the Center for Research on Vermont back at my alma mater, the University of Vermont. I also manage a group of talented interns in the Communications Community of Practice. Being back in the university space has inspired me to pursue the dream I’ve had since college and push myself to my fullest potential.

I’m proud to be launching 30th Street Communications as an independently owned communications and social media consultancy. Looking ahead to the future of this business, I can’t wait to keep growing my network of supporters, mentors, and clients.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me on this professional journey so far!
